COVID-19 POLICY & precautions
As a family, we are in the vulnerable demographic at this time, but we also know that this is a time for all healthcare workers to go beyond the normal course of duty, and we are determined to do our part for a local community who have trusted us with their health for decades. The decision to continue treating patients has not been made lightly, but we need to take the following measures to protect everyone. We appreciate you understanding, taking this all very seriously, and co-operating. By booking an appointment, you agree to these measures.
Measures we are taking
- Spaced appointments: All appointments are spaced so that you will not interact with other clients during your visit, just us. This would have resulted in less available appointments, but we have doubled our available hours during the crisis.
- Fever check: As a precaution, we are checking the temperature of all clients via touchless infrared thermometer before treating them.
- Social distancing: Our location is small, but we definitely have adequate room for the required 4 sqm/person. If you arrive early (during another client visit) we will ask you to sit on the chairs outside.
- Required hand sanitisation: In additional to your regular hand washing, we require all clients to use hand sanitiser when arriving. Even though soap and water is the most effective agent for breaking down the outer layers of the virus, alcohol antibacterial gel HAS also proven to be effective if in direct contact.
- Disinfecting all touched surfaces: Viruses can stay active on surfaces for hours or days, and coronavirus has proven to be extremely hardy. We have always disinfected the adjustment table between each visit, but now we are religious about cleaning ALL surfaces.
- Diffuser for aerosols: Coronavirus has also been shown to stay active in the air for a few hours, so we are using an an antibacterial atomiser to help with air defence.
- Telehealth consults: For anyone who is quarantined, or has decided to self-isolate, we don't want to leave you without an option for care, so we have implemented a system to conduct video chat consults with digital evidence-based exercise prescription tailored to your needs and delivered via an app. The regular fees and rebates will apply for these virtual consults and we can process payments and rebates remotely.
PLease Stay Home If...
If you are quarantined (because of recent international travel, or contact with a confirmed case), or have a fever, or sore throat, or cough, or shortness of breath, we ask that you stay home and call your primary care provider for instructions.
To prevent the spread of infection, please DO NOT physically visit our premises if you are ANY of the above. Many of our clients are in the vulnerable demographic and we cannot afford to take any risks here.
Anyone known to be breaking quarantine will be referred to the QLD Police and under the Public Health Act 2005, may be subject to enforced quarantine and receiving fines of up to $13,345 and other penalties.
